Town of Acton to Host Community Conversation About Incoming Migrant Families

ACTON – Town Manager John Mangiaratti would like to invite Acton-Boxborough community members to an informational community conversation to discuss the plan for migrant families who are moving into the new Emergency Shelter at the Minuteman Inn.  

WHEN:  

Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 6-8:30 p.m. 

WHERE: 

Human Services Building, 30 Sudbury Rd., Acton 

WHO: 

The following will be speaking during the panel discussion:  

  • Town Manager John Mangiaratti 
  • Moderator Rebecca Manseau Barnett
  • Fania Alvarez, Local Resident
  • Acton Police Officer Monicka Jean-Baptiste 
  • State Representative for the 14th District Simon Cataldo and State Representative for the 37th Middlesex District Danillo Sena may be in attendance. 
  • Dignity in Asylum, a Concord Agency that will discuss the Asylum process. 
  • Shelter Manager from Making Opportunities Count.  

WHAT: 

The Town of Acton in collaboration with the Acton Boxborough Regional School District and Acton-Boxborough United Way, would like to invite residents and community members to a community conversation to discuss the plan for migrantfamilies as they move into the new emergency shelter at the Minuteman Inn in Acton. 

The Minuteman Inn, along Route 2, was declared as an Emergency Shelter in October, and families are expected to move in mid-November. 

The event will include a panel discussion with residents, community leaders and more to discuss the current plans and the anticipated needs of residents. The discussion will also include insight into Haitian culture and the migrantjourney.  

Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas, while also gaining a better understanding of the process and how to support new neighbors.
