CARLISLE — Chief Andrew Amendola reports that the Carlisle Police Department got a very special visitor during trick-or-treating on Tuesday night when a family stopped by the station with a baby that officers had helped to deliver.
On Saturday, June 3, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Officer Taylor Collins and Officer Gregory Balzotti were dispatched to a home on Acton Street in Carlisle for a report of a woman who was in extreme labor.
Officer Collins and Officer Balzotti arrived to find a mother in labor, and helped to deliver a healthy baby girl in the home. Mother and baby were then transported to Emerson Hospital in good condition.
On Tuesday night, the family stopped by the police station in costume and reunited with Officer Collins for the first time since the birth.
“It was nice to be remembered for helping,” Officer Collins said.
“This was a heartwarming reunion and we are very proud of both Officer Collins and Officer Balzotti for the professionalism and care with which they responded to this urgent call,” said Chief Amendola. “We hope this is the first of many Halloween night visits!”
