GORHAM – Superintendent David Backler and Principal David Morrissette are pleased to announce that Gorham Middle High School senior Andrew Saunders recently competed in the Big E Dog Show and placed second.
Saunders competed in the Eastern States Expositions 4-H Dog Show at the Big E on Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, as a representative from New Hampshire.
Saunders and his dog, Cork, a German Wirehaired Pointer, competed against 30 other teens across the Northeast, and was one of three male delegates for New Hampshire. Saunders has been competing in dog shows for five years, and this is his third year attending the Big E.
The competition includes a dog show portion and a dog knowledge test, comprised of questions related to the dog breed.
Saunders and Cork placed second in all of the off-leash obedience classes.
“I would like to congratulate Andrew and his dog Cork on their exemplary performance at the Big E last month,” said Superintendent Backler. “I am continuously in awe of our students’ dedication and commitment to their passions. Andrew should be extremely proud of this accomplishment.”
