Stow Police Department Invites Community to ‘Coffee With a Cop’ on Oct. 6

STOW — Chief Michael Sallese and the Stow Police Department invite residents to attend its Coffee with a Cop event on Oct. 6.

STOW — Chief Michael Sallese and the Stow Police Department invite residents to attend its Coffee with a Cop event on Oct. 6.

WHEN:

Friday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE:

Fourth & Field, 302 Boxboro Road

WHAT:

Residents, business owners, and community members are invited to meet with Stow Police officers to engage in meaningful conversation over a cup of coffee (or two). There is no set agenda.

This year’s National Coffee with a Cop Day, conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 4. Stow Police have decided to hold their event on Oct. 6 instead to support a new local business.

Fourth & Field scheduled its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 9, but a strong storm that led to power outages and road closures derailed those plans.

“We truly enjoy meeting with residents ‘the Stow Way,’ whether it was last year’s Cider with a Cop, or to help welcome a new local business,” Chief Sallese said. “We invite the community to come and share the issues that are important to them in an informal setting.”

The first Coffee with a Cop event was held in 2011 by the Hawthorne Police Department in California. The initiative has since spread globally as a simple, effective method of bringing police and communities together.
