ERROL – Superintendent David Backler and Principal Mary Fluette are pleased to share that the Errol Consolidated School’s Jump Start program was a success.
The Jump Start Program was held every Tuesday and Thursday throughout August. Seven students from kindergarten through Grade 4 participated in the program.
During the program students participated in project-based curriculum with a theme of camping, to help reinforce skills learned from the previous school year.
Students participated in both group instruction and independent work, and used a detailed token system to purchase equipment, supplies and food for the classroom camp site.
The program was created during the 2022-2023 school year after reviewing student data from the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) which showed a drop in scores from spring to fall. As a result, collaboration began between student services directors, teaching principals and classroom teachers who discussed the different methods to help students which included summer packets in comparison to in-person learning.
Errol Consolidated then worked with parents and guardians to produce a solution centered around helping students.
The goal was to support students during summer break with math, ELA and social skills before school started.
“The Jump Start program provides students with an interactive and fun summer curriculum that assists and supports students and their skill sets,” said Principal Fluette. “Our goal is to be able to offer this program next year.”
