Town of Bridgewater Reminds Residents of Water Usage Regulations

Town Manager Michael Dutton and the Bridgewater Water Department wish to remind residents of water usage regulations as the water supply is lower than usual due to unlawful uses of town water.

BRIDGEWATER — Town Manager Michael Dutton and the Bridgewater Water Department wish to remind residents of water usage regulations as the water supply is lower than usual due to unlawful uses of town water.

Residents are reminded that automated sprinklers and irrigation systems and the filling of swimming pools are strictly prohibited in the Town of Bridgewater. The only outdoor watering that is permitted in town is via a handheld hose.

The regulations regarding such watering are in place to conserve water and prevent a drop in water levels in the town’s two water towers.

Particularly on weekends, unlawful use of water has caused significant drops in water levels, which endangers the town’s efforts to ensure a constant and reliable water supply. Increased water use also affects water pressure, which can have a severe impact on firefighting operations.

Residents and business owners who use water in ways that are against town regulations risk facing fines.

“We’re asking residents and business owners to please be mindful of our regulations regarding water usage in the Town of Bridgewater so that we can preserve and maintain this vitally important resource,” said Town Manager Dutton.
