BOURNE — Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou and Bourne High School Principal Amy Cetner are excited to share that the Bourne High School Varsity Baseball Team won the Division 5 State Championship over the weekend.
The Division 5 State Final game was played on Sunday, June 18 at Polar Park, where Bourne High School secured the, 10-5, win against Hopkins Academy, from Hadley.
This is the first time in team history that Bourne has won the state title.
“Congratulations to our talented baseball team and dedicated coaches for an incredible season,” said Superintendent Quinlan-Zhou. “We’re so proud of the team and their amazing accomplishment.”
“I want to congratulate our varsity baseball team for winning the Division 5 State Championship for the first time in Bourne High School history,” Principal Cetner said.
The team finished the regular season with a record of 13-7.
In the playoffs, they went on to win against Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School, Maynard High School, Greenfield High School and Ayer Shirley Regional High School, before playing in the championship game.
“These student-athletes worked exceptionally hard this season and it is so rewarding to see all of their hard work pay off in such a great way,” said Athletic Director Scott Ashworth.
