Bourne High School Varsity Baseball Team Makes History Advancing to State Finals

BOURNE —  Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou and Bourne High School Principal Amy Cetner are pleased to share that the Bourne High School Varsity Baseball Team has advanced to the state finals for the first time. 

On Tuesday, June 13, the Bourne High School Varsity Baseball Team beat Ayer Shirley (sixth seed), 7-5, in their Division 5 State Championship Final Four game at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton. 

This win secured a spot for Bourne in the Division 5 State Final. This is the first time in history that Bourne has advanced to and won a final four game, as well as advanced to the state championship.

“I’m incredibly proud of our student-athletes and coaches for advancing this far in tournament play,” said Principal Cetner. “I am looking forward to cheering them on in the state finals.” 

The Division 5 State Final game will be played on Saturday, June 17 at noon at Polar Park, 100 Madison St., in Worcester. Bourne High School will face Hopkins Academy (ninth seed), from Hadley.

“On behalf of the entire district, I want to congratulate our varsity baseball student-athletes and coaches on advancing to the Division 5 State Finals. We wish them the best of luck this weekend,” said Superintendent Quinlan-Zhou.

Bourne High School Varsity Baseball finished the regular season with a record of 13-7. 

Bourne then went on to win against Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School (15-2), Maynard High School (5-3), Greenfield High School (8-1), and Ayer Shirley Regional High School (7-5) on the way to securing the second seed in the tournament.

“It has been so much fun watching this team during this tournament run,” said Athletic Director Scott Ashworth. “They play the game hard with great passion and enthusiasm.”
