Blackstone Police Investigating After Altercation Between Two Students at Middle School Involving Razor Blade

BLACKSTONE — Chief Gregory Gilmore reports that the Blackstone Police Department is investigating after an altercation occurred Thursday morning between two students at Frederick W. Hartnett Middle School.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. Thursday, a Blackstone Police School Resource Officer responded to the middle school after being notified of an altercation between two students.

Upon arrival, the officer learned that one of the students involved, a 12-year-old juvenile male, had allegedly brought a razor into the school and cut another student’s hand during an altercation.

The victim, an 11-year-old boy, required stitches for his injury.

The two students are known to each other and police do not have reason to believe that there was any threat against the larger school community.

Blackstone Police expect to file charges against the 12-year-old juvenile male in the coming days, and he would be summonsed to Milford Juvenile Court at a later date.

Charges represent accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt under the United States Constitution. With the exception of those charged as youthful offenders, juvenile proceedings are closed to the public.
