Taunton Public Schools Appoints Friedman Middle School Principal Danielle Coute as District’s New Director of Humanities

TAUNTON ー Superintendent John Cabral is pleased to announce that Danielle Coute has been chosen as the new Director of Humanities for Taunton Public Schools. 

Coute, a long-time Taunton resident, will start in her new role on July 1. In this role, Coute will oversee the piloting and adoption of curriculum throughout the Taunton Public School District. In addition, she will also play a vital role in the assessment and development of curriculum and instructional programming for the humanities department.

While serving in her new role, Coute will serve as a member of the District Instructional Leadership Team (DILT). 

Coute currently serves as the Principal of Benjamin A. Friedman Middle School where she has supported the adoption and implementation of high-quality instructional curriculum programs including Wonders, Study Sync, OpenSci Ed, IllustrativeMath, and the piloting of Investigating History. While working as principal, Coute has also trained staff on open-response writing, increased attendance rates, decreased suspension rates and was part of Taunton’s COVID-19 Preparedness Team. 

“We are pleased to be welcoming Danielle to her new role as Director of Humanities for the Taunton Public Schools,” said Superintendent Cabral. “Danielle has been a dedicated Friedman Middle School staff member and leader for many years, and I am confident she will be highly successful in this new role.”

Coute has been a staff member of Friedman Middle School for over 16 years. Prior to her role as Principal, Coute worked as Assistant Principal from 2016 to 2018, and as an Instructional Coach in 2015. Additionally, Coute held various teaching positions at the Friedman Middle School, beginning in 2007.

She has also previously served as an adjunct professor for American International College in 2015. 

Coute holds a master’s degree in curriculum and teaching from Fitchburg State College and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and psychology from Bridgewater State University. 

Her husband, Matthew, is also a social studies teacher in the Taunton Public Schools. They are the proud parents of two children, Jaxson and Jameson. Jaxson is 7 years old and attends Chamberlain Elementary School. Jameson is 3 years old.
