Football Game to Begin at 10 a.m. at Mansfield High School’s Field

TAUNTON — Superintendent John Cabral and Athletic Director Mark Ottavianelli announce that the time and location of Taunton High School’s upcoming varsity football game on Saturday, Sept. 17 have been changed.

Taunton High School’s varsity football game against Durfee High School will now take place at Mansfield High School Alumni Field and Track, located at 250 East St., Mansfield, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The game was originally scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Stonehill College’s W.B. Mason Stadium, but was changed due to a last-minute cancellation by the college.

Currently, work is being completed on Taunton High School’s brand-new turf field and race track resulting in a delayed opening of the facilities for use. Construction and renovation work is expected to last for two more weeks. In the meantime, Taunton High School will be hosting its home games at alternative locations until work is completed. Additional information about games that are impacted by this delay will be shared once new arrangments are finalized.

“We greatly appreciate Mansfield Public Schools for allowing us to play our upcoming varsity football game at their field on such short notice,” Athletic Director Ottavianelli said. “Hosting other district’s sporting events is no small feat as it takes a good amount of planning, so we are extremely thankful for how accommodating Mansfield Superintendent Theresa Murphy and Athletic Director Tim Selmon have been in allowing us to make these new arrangements at their field so quickly. We also appreciate Durfee for their patience and understanding as we made these new arrangements. We look forward to a great game this weekend.”
