EAST KINGSTON — Chief Ed Warren reports that the East Kingston Fire Department and mutual aid partners responded to a two-alarm fire in a barn on Thursday night.

On Thursday, May 26, at approximately 10:25 p.m., the East Kingston Fire Department responded to a report of a barn fire at 20 Rowell Road.

A deputy fire chief arrived on scene at 10:31 p.m., and struck a first alarm, bringing both East Kingston and mutual aid firefighters to the scene. Firefighters immediately focused on establishing a water supply and protecting a single-family home on the property from extension.

Firefighters used tanker trucks and stretched about 2,000 feet of large-diameter hose line to supply water. The fire extended to a boat and two vehicles on the property, but firefighters were able to protect the home, which suffered melted siding but no additional damage.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause is under investigation by the East Kingston Fire Department, with assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Firefighters from Epping, Stratham, Greenland, Newton, South Hampton, Kingston, Danville, Fremont, as well as Amesbury and Merrimac Massachusetts provided mutual aid at the scene, and firefighters from Newfields covered East Kingston stations.

“I want to thank all of our mutual aid partners,” said Chief Warren. “The mutual aid system gives us all the resources we need, and it worked flawlessly tonight.”
