Town of Bridgewater Provides Update on COVID-19 Vaccinations for Residents 75+

Residents Encouraged to Check Gillette Stadium for Available Appointments, New Bridgewater COVID-19 Vaccine Information Line Now Open

BRIDGEWATER — Town Manager Michael Dutton would like to share with the community the creation of the Bridgewater COVID-19 Vaccine Information Line as well as updates regarding the town’s work to secure vaccine doses for future potential local clinics.

Registering for a Vaccination

The state is currently in the process of vaccinating the first priority group in Phase Two, which is individuals age 75 and older.

Town officials note that the most certain way for currently eligible residents to get a vaccination is through one of the state’s mass vaccination sites as much of the vaccine doses available to the state are being allocated to these sites. Residents are encouraged to check the Gillette Stadium site as residents have seen success securing an appointment at that site. 

There are additional vaccination clinics located near Bridgewater, which can be found here. Vaccination locations are announced and opened depending on the availability of the vaccine. All vaccination sites require an appointment.

If you are 75 years old or older and wish to make an appointment at a vaccination site:

• Visit mass.gov and click on the “COVID-19 Vaccine” box
• Click on the box that says “Are you 75 or older?  Click Here” 
• Click on the “How to schedule and prepare for your appointment” link, and follow the outlined directions to find a vaccine clinic, fill out the attestation form and book an available appointment

Residents who do not have a computer or internet access or are not comfortable using the internet can call the state’s 211 vaccine scheduling resource line. The hotline takes calls Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and callers can speak with a live representative who will help them find a nearby vaccination location and make an appointment. 

Bridgewater COVID-19 Vaccine Information Line

As of today, the Town of Bridgewater has opened a local call center to assist Bridgewater’s senior residents with questions on how and where they can receive a vaccination. The call center can assist with logistical questions but will not be able to answer medical questions.

The information line will be answered by a live person Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. The call center can be reached at 508-697-0930. 

Residents can also call the information line to inquire about local vaccination clinics. The town will take names and contact information and add Bridgewater residents age 75 and older to a master list for a local vaccination clinic. If vaccine doses are allocated to the town, appointments will be scheduled in chronological order off of that list and the town will assist seniors in completing the required forms. 

Town Vaccination Clinics

All vaccine doses come from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and are allocated to communities and vaccination sites based on need. Town officials learned after speaking with DPH officials that the state receives many more requests for vaccine doses than the number of actual doses the state receives from the federal government, limiting the vaccine supply to towns and other vaccination sites.

While the Town of Bridgewater plans to host multiple vaccination clinics for seniors age 75 and older, along with other residents who will become eligible as part of Phase Two, all town clinics are dependent on the town being able to secure vaccine doses.
