ACTON –Town Manager John Mangiaratti and Community Services Coordinator Laura Ducharme would like to inform the public about three assistance programs created to help residents financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including a new grant to help with childcare costs.

The Town of Acton — along with neighboring communities of Boxborough, Littleton, Maynard and Westford — has been awarded a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development through a regional CARES ACT Community Development Block Grant Program.

This grant will provide childcare subsidies to qualified families who are at or below 80% of the Area Median Income, which is a gross of $96,250 for a family of four.

Participating families will receive a onetime grant of $3,000 for children birth to age 6 and $2,000 for children in kindergarten to age 13 towards their daycare or after school costs.

The Town also would like to announce that both the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) and Mortgage Assistance Program (MAP) are currently accepting new applications.

The MAP and ERAP programs are a collaborative effort with the Regional Housing Services Office (RHSO), who will provide administrative support for the program. The programs provide financial assistance to renters and homeowners in Acton.

Acton residents who have been financially impacted by the pandemic and are at or below 100% of the area median income (AMI), which is a gross income of $119,000 for a family of four, are eligible to apply.
