Whitman Fire Department Shares Information on Local COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

WHITMAN — Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Timothy Grenno would like to provide important information to residents regarding COVID-19 vaccine distribution in the Town of Whitman.

WHITMAN — Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Timothy Grenno would like to provide important information to residents regarding COVID-19 vaccine distribution in the Town of Whitman.

The Town has taken several steps in recent weeks to prepare for vaccination clinics for residents as part of Phase 2 of the state’s distribution plan. However, local vaccine rollout is dependent on receiving doses from the state Department of Public Health. At this time, no additional vaccine doses have been made available to the Town from DPH.

“We want to ensure our residents that the Town of Whitman is doing everything in its power to prepare for vaccination clinics for those 75 years old and older, as well as additional populations once the state moves on to the next step of Phase 2,” Chief Grenno said. “However, our most recent request for vaccine doses was denied and we will need to wait until the next allotment of doses are available. We will continue to request vaccines from the state as frequently as possible and will continue to keep the public informed of the situation every step of the way.”

In the meantime, the Town of Whitman is encouraging those residents who are currently eligible to receive the vaccine to make an appointment at a number of vaccination sites around the region. To view a map of vaccination sites, click here. All sites require an appointment.
