Rowley Water Department Announces Change in Drought Status

ROWLEY — The Rowley Water Department announces that the town has been upgraded to a Level 1 Drought status after being in a more severe Level 2 Drought since the summer.

ROWLEY — The Rowley Water Department announces that the town has been upgraded to a Level 1 Drought status after being in a more severe Level 2 Drought since the summer.

The new, mild drought designation means that residents should continue to be mindful of ways they can limit their usage in order to conserve water, while more stringent restrictions are no longer in effect.

To help preserve the local water supply, residents and businesses should:

  • Focus on conserving water indoors by fixing leaks
  • Limit outdoor watering to no more than once per week and between the hours of 5 p.m. and 9 a.m.
  • Limit outdoor landscaping and washing

The change from a significant to a mild drought was made by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and includes the entire northeast region of the state.
