SWANSEA – Chief Eric Hajder is pleased to announce that the Swansea Fire Department was awarded a $13,620 Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program (CESFP) grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s (EOPSS) Office of Grants and Research.
The grant was part of the $9.6 million in funding that the Baker-Politio Administration allocated to help local and state public safety agencies purchase additional resources to further aid in the prevention, preparation for and/or response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Swansea Fire Department will use the funds to purchase a PortaCount Pro Plus respirator fit tester, an adapter, and a Microsoft Go tablet.
“We are thankful to the Baker-Polito Administration and to the Executive Office of Public Safety for this additional funding to help the Swansea Fire Department address COVID-19 in the community,” Chief Hajder said. “The fight against COVID-19 is far from over, and we will continue to do what we can to keep the residents of Swansea as safe as possible during the ongoing pandemic.”
Municipalities were eligible to receive up to $50,000 in individual funding. In total, 65 fire departments and 44 police departments representing 94 cities and towns received CESFP awards.
