The Vermont Association of Chiefs of Police is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its seventh annual golf tournament next month and players and sponsors are encouraged to sign up.

This year’s event will be held virtually as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Teams of two to four golfers will be able to play a round of golf at the course of their choice. The cost of the tournament is $25 per player and each player can purchase one mulligan for $10 during their round. Players will be responsible for their own green fees.

Registration can be completed online by emailing Robbie Blish at rblish@townofwoodstock.org or Travis Bingham at travis.bingham@newportpd.org.

The virtual tournament will be using the same “Best Ball” format as the previously held in-person events. Each player on the team hits a tee shot, and then the players decide which shot they like better. The players then play from that spot. This is repeated until the ball is holed.

Those who sign up can play their round of golf anytime from Aug. 1-22. All scorecards must be received by Aug. 31, along with the player’s registration, entry fees and any mulligan fees. Score cards, registration forms and checks made out to VACOP can be sent to Chief Robbie Blish, P.O. Box 212, Woodstock, VT 05091 or Chief Travis Bingham, 222 Main St. Newport, VT 05855

Winners will receive green fees for four players to a golf course in Vermont. First place winners will have first choice of the available green fees and each subsequent winner will be given the next choice until all donated greens are taken.

Opportunities to sponsor or donate are also available. Sponsors will receive recognition on the VACOP website and Facebook page, as well as a press release about the tournament once it is over. Any sponsorship amount is appreciated.

Funds collected will go toward the association’s scholarship awards and advancing the VACOP’s public safety mission.
