MELROSE — Chief Michael L. Lyle is pleased to announce the promotion of a longtime member of the Melrose Police Department.
Detective Kevin Mulrenan was promoted to Sergeant and sworn in by Melrose City Clerk Amy Kamosa during a socially distanced ceremony at City Hallon Thursday, May 7.
“Sgt. Mulrenan has done exceptional work for the department over the years and I know he will continue to excel in this new role,” Chief Lyle said. “He has shown that he is an exceptional leader and investigator, and I wish him all the best as he takes this next step in his career.”
Sgt. Mulrenan served as a detective for the last 11 years and joined the Melrose Police Department as a Patrol Officer in 1995. He has served as the evidence room officer and a bicycle officer during his time at the Melrose Police Department as well.
From 1997 to 2005, he was the president of Patrolman’s Union.
Sgt. Mulrenan holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Springfield College. He served with honors in the U.S. Navy and in Operation Desert Storm.
