Acton Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire on Olde Lantern Road

ACTON — Chief Robert Hart reports that the Acton Fire Department extinguished a house fire late Thursday night, May 14.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Acton firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 13 Olde Lantern Road. Acton Engine 23, Ladder 28, Engine 21, Rescue 34 and Car 30 responded to the scene and found heavy smoke showing and a working fire in a second-story bedroom.

Residents were able to safely make it out of the house prior to firefighters’ arrival and no injuries were reported.

Mutual aid at the scene was provided by Concord Fire Department Engine 4. Crews from the Westford, Maynard and Boxborough fire departments provided station coverage.

Firefighters were able to make a quick and aggressive attack, knocking down the flames within 20 minutes of arrival and preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the home.

The Building Commissioner, District 14 fire investigation team and wiring inspector responded to the scene as well.

“With all fires, time is of the essence. Fortunately, everyone in the home was immediately alerted to the fire with the help of working smoke detectors, and as a result no one was injured and we were able to respond swiftly,” said Chief Hart. “I want to thank all of the responding companies who assisted us on the call.”

The scene was cleared at 12:58 a.m. Friday.

Four residents and two dogs were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Acton Fire Department.
