RAYMOND, N.H. — Superintendent Tina McCoy and Principal Laura Yacek would like to announce that students from the Lamprey River Elementary School are taking part in a Remote Learning Spirit Week this week, as school buildings remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and districts around the nation have taken the school day online.
Over the course of the week, students will participate in dress-up theme days to show their school spirit during their remote learning sessions.
The themes for the week are:
- Music Day on Monday
- Hat Day on Tuesday
- School Spirit Day, where students will wear LRES colors, on Wednesday
- Pajama Day on Thursday
- Family Friday, where family members are invited to join a live meeting or lesson with students.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity for our students and help students engage with their peers in a positive way during this unique situation,” Principal Yacek said. “So far, students, their families and staff have been excited to participate.”
Staff provided feedback, helping to plan the themes for the week.
“I’m blown away by the creativity and engagement both students and staff are showing during this remote learning period,” Superintendent McCoy said. “It’s amazing to see everyone still coming together in support of their school spirit, even if the way it’s celebrated has changed.”
Since March 17, students have been participating in remote learning after Gov. Chris Sununu announced the closure of schools statewide in an effort to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Remote learning will continue until at least May 4.
Staff have been keeping students engaged in a variety of ways, from assignments presented in Google Classroom, to staff live-streaming or recording morning messages or reading books aloud to start the day. Students, in return, have been sharing pictures of what they are learning and doing at home that’s connected to the activities assigned.
