Maynard Fire Department Extinguishes 4-Alarm House Fire on Sunday

MAYNARD — Chief Anthony Stowers reports that the Maynard Fire Department extinguished a four-alarm house fire Sunday afternoon. 

At approximately 2:20 p.m., the Maynard Fire Department was dispatched to 14 Walcott St. for a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy smoke and fire coming from the home, and quickly went to a second alarm.

At approximately 2:35 p.m., crews struck a third alarm for additional manpower, and ultimately went to a fourth alarm to rotate crews.

There was heavy fire on two floors. The fire was deemed under control just after 4 p.m. 

Neither of the two occupants at home at the time of the fire, nor any firefighters, were injured.

The home sustained significant smoke and fire damage.

Crews from Stow, Sudbury, Lincoln, Acton, Weston, Marlborough, Hudson, Wayland, Carlisle, Bedford, Boxborough, Pro-ALS, the Mass Department of Fire Services Rehabilitation Unit, Fire District 14 Communications Team, and the Massachusetts Fire District 14 Chiefs Assistance Team, as well as the Maynard Police Department, Maynard Communications, Maynard Department of Public Works, and Massachusetts Fire District 14 Control Point. also assisted as part of a regional response.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Massachusetts Fire District 14 Fire Investigation Team.
