WAKEFIELD — The Massachusetts Partnerships of Youth (MPY) will be hosting “The Psychopathology of Children & Adolescents Through Psychological and Legal Lenses” conference later this month.
“The goal of this conference is to help attendees better understand the impact that of mental health diagnoses and disorders in children and adolescents,” said MPY Executive Director Margie Daniels. “This conference also examines the legal implications for programming to meet the social and emotional needs of students. ”We look forward to hosting this event as part of our Mental Health Series.”

WHO:
- Margie Daniels, executive director of Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth.
- Michael Joyce, a partner at Nuttall, MacAvoy & Joyce.
- Samuel J. Moncata, director of The Center for Lifespan Development and professor in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at William James College.
WHAT:
Attendees will learn about common childhood and adolescence mental health diagnoses, with a focus on how these disorders impact cognitive development, emotional control and behavioral expectations, academic attainment, social pragmatics, and peer and teacher relationships. Joyce, a special education attorney, will also talk about the legal decisions involving social and emotional programming in schools.
Over 100 participants are expected to attend, the majority of whom will be school psychologists, social workers, guidance counselors, school resource officers, and administrators.
The conference is free for members and $100 for non-members.
