WEYMOUTH — Superintendent Jennifer Curtis-Whipple would like to provide a message to the school community:
“At approximately noon today, Weymouth Public Schools officials were notified of a school employee that had self-reported having a fever yesterday after coming home from a trip abroad last week.
The district notified the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Weymouth Health Department and has been collaborating with them closely on this matter. The district has been notified by health officials that there is no one in the school community suspected of having Coronavirus.
The district has been informed that it should follow its normal protocols for employees who are sick by health officials. The employee will be welcomed back to work once the employee is feeling better.
The country that the employee visited is not a country that currently has any travel restrictions around the Coronavirus.
The district has been told by health officials that they have not received any new confirmed or potential cases of the Coronavirus in the state. The district will continue to collaborate with local and state health officials and will follow all DPH and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention policies and procedures.
The district will continue to closely monitor this situation and further updates and information will be made if and when it becomes available.”
