WHITMAN — Superintendent Jeffrey Szymaniak is pleased to announce that Whitman-Hanson Regional High School will host Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) for the “Lessons in Uncommon Sense” professional development conference for educators next week.

WHAT:
Titled “Lessons in Uncommon Sense,” Dr. Adolph Brown will speak to educators, school psychologists, social workers, guidance counselors, school resource officers and administrators about equity, diversity and inclusion and how they can make a difference in the lives of students.
As a former at-risk student who had one foot in gifted education and the other in alternative education, Dr. Brown knows the “Whole Child” deserves a “Whole Education.” Dr. Brown uses evidence informed practice combined with the best available research and his vast experience as a veteran educator to deliver measurable outcomes.
The conference will also feature Kathy Lopes, an expert in educational issues related to equity, diversity and inclusion, and Dr. Raul Fernandez, Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Boston University’s Wheelock College.
“Understanding the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion and being able to promote those values throughout schools is important for all educators and provides a better educational experience for students,” Superintendent Szymaniak said. “Dr. Brown brings years of experience and valuable input on these topics, and we are looking forward to hosting Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth and Dr. Brown for this conference.”
