RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy would like to share information about the proposed operating budget for the Raymond School District.
The proposed budget is $25,902,672. This budget amount is a $526,174, or 2.1 percent, increase from the current budget.
Should voters not approve this budget, the default budget is $25,674,781.
The main cause of the 2.1 percent in the proposed budget is due to salary increases and employee benefits.
Some of the notable changes in the budget are:
- Eliminating a music teacher position at the Iber Holmes Gove Middle School.
- Adding a district-wide technology integration and data manager position
- Adding a part-time human resources assistant
During the 2021 Fiscal Year, the Raymond School District expects to receive an additional $311,796 from state funding, as well as incoming tuition and fees.
The proposed budget is built through the collaboration of school employees and administrations, the Raymond School Board and the Raymond Budget Committee.
“Our goal is to create a budget that provides students with the best education they can receive while being fair to tax payers,” Superintendent McCoy said. “Each aspect of the budget is thoroughly reviewed and discussed before we present it to voters.”
The estimated tax rate impact of this warrant article, should it be approved, would be an increase of $0.23 per thousand. The overall estimated tax rate impact will be determined after all the warrant articles are voted on.
Voting on the warrant articles will take place on Tuesday, March 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Iber Holmes Gove Middle School, 1 Stephen K. Batchelder Parkway.
