Chelmsford Police Respond after Student Brings Bullet to School

CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department responded this morning after a student brought a bullet to school.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Chelmsford Police responded to Harrington Elementary School, 120 Richardson Road, for a report that a bullet had been brought inside the building. Following an initial investigation, police and school officials determined that a student brought a .45 caliber round to school to show classmates.

“I commend the students for reporting this incident quickly,” Chief Spinney said. “It’s important to emphasize that there was never any danger to students or staff today, and that school faculty and administrators have handled this effectively.”

The bullet was immediately confiscated from the student, and administrators are addressing the matter according to the district’s Code of Conduct.
