Police Conduct Scheduled K9 Search at King Philip High School Today

WRENTHAM — Superintendent Paul Zinni and Principal Lisa Mobley report that a scheduled police K9 search of King Philip Regional High School was conducted Tuesday morning.

The search was conducted by Wrentham Police at approximately 9 a.m. and lasted about 25 minutes. K9 searches are done at the school, parking lots and school grounds at least once each school year.

A notice has been sent out to parents that the search was conducted.

As a result of the search, there were no positive alerts by the K9 and no illegal or potentially harmful contraband was found.

“These searches are part of the high school’s overall safety and security plan,” Principal Mobley said. “We have a great working relationship with our local police department and student safety is our top priority.”

As part of the standard operating procedure of the search, the school was briefly sheltered in place. Once the search was completed, the shelter in place order was lifted. The school day then continued on a regular schedule.

“I would like to thank Chief William McGrath and the Wrentham Police Department for their professionalism while the search was being conducted,” Superintendent Zinni said. “Our partnership with our local police departments is paramount in ensuring safety at our schools and exercises like today serve to continue that effort.”

Parents or residents who have questions or concerns can call the King Philip Regional School District administration office at 508-520-7991 or the Wrentham Police Department at 508-384-2121.
