Supporting Andover Businesses
ANDOVER — Andover’s entire downtown neighborhood was in the affected zone of the Merrimack Valley Gas Emergency. Hundreds of businesses including nearly 75 restaurants and dozens of shops and professional service providers were impacted by the crisis.
Since the first hours of the emergency, the Town of Andover’s business liaisons, including Director of Business, Arts, and Culture Ann Ormond and Director of Public Health Thomas Carbone have been working tirelessly to ensure that businesses and restaurants are not left behind. The Town has made numerous resources available and have dedicated personnel and resources to speed up the permitting and inspection procedures in Andover to ensure that food service establishments can get back up and running safely.
The Town of Andover encourages everyone to support and patronize Andover businesses and to use the hashtag #AndoverBiz on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to support the hardworking business owners and workers who have struggled during the gas emergency.

“Andover’s small businesses are the lifeblood of our community. They provide dining experiences, critical and important services and unique shopping opportunities in our community. The thousands of jobs that have been impacted contribute greatly to Andover’s economy and neighborhoods. We need to help get employees back to work,” Town Manager Flanagan said. “We will continue to provide whatever resources we can to help our businesses through this crisis.”
Town Manager Flanagan is also advocating for Andover businesses at the state level and has worked with Governor Charlie Baker and other municipal leaders on the creation of a Small Business Emergency Loan Program and the Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund.
Added Director Ormond: “Andover has a vibrant and diverse array of businesses. Our downtown is a draw for visitors all over the region, and I an incredibly proud of the spirit and strength of our business owners. I encourage everyone to come out and support our local businesses.”
Director Ormond also suggests that residents looking to wrap up some early holiday shopping should consider purchasing gift cards from Andover restaurants and shops, as the purchases provide a much-needed influx of revenue.
Free Parking Downtown
Town of Andover has suspended parking fees at municipal parking lots. The Town encourages downtown visitors to park in the municipal parking lots. This includes Lot 1 (between Andover Village Square and Caffé Nero), Lot 2 (behind Old Town Hall) and Lot 3 (Park Street Village). Come experience Andover, and park for free!
