Chelmsford Police Investigating Crash That Seriously Injured a Pedestrian

CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department responded after a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured earlier today.

At 2:40 p.m., Chelmsford Police, Fire, Trinity Ambulance and Greater Lowell paramedics responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian on Billerica Road near Omni Way. Upon arrival, first responders observed a 54-year-old man who had been struck by a vehicle.

The victim, a Lowell resident, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and was subsequently flown by medical helicopter to a Boston area hospital. His current condition is unknown. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the crash.

The Chelmsford Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances of the crash.
