Athol Police Respond to All-Terrain Vehicle Crash

ATHOL — Chief Russell Kleber reports that the Athol Police Department responded to an incident where a woman crashed an all-terrain vehicle and was injured this afternoon.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Sunday, May 27, Athol Police received a call about a 25-year-old female that crashed an all-terrain vehicle in a sand pit near Partridgeville Road and Coolidge Street.

Upon arrival, police and fire personnel had difficulty getting to the patient due to the terrain and distance to the road.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was safely extricated from the area by Athol Fire Department paramedics. She was taken by ambulance to Athol Hospital and was later transported to a Worcester hospital.

The all-terrain vehicle was secured by Athol Police.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The Massachusetts Environmental Police was notified and will take over the investigation.
