Holbrook Police Cite Driver in Pedestrian Crash that Killed 4-Year-Old Girl in October

Driver Cited for Motor Vehicle Homicide in Death of Savannah Curran

HOLBROOK — Chief William J. Smith reports that the Holbrook Police Department has cited a Scituate man who allegedly struck and killed a 4-year-old girl in October last year on Fargo Road.

ROBERT A. JOHNSON, AGE 55, OF SCITUATE is facing misdemeanor charges of:

  • Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation
  • Impeded Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Driving Negligently so as to Endanger

The charges come after the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) recently completed their investigation and report on the crash.

As a result of the investigation, the charges were filed on Tuesday, Feb. 20 and a citation was issued to JOHNSON.

On Saturday Oct. 7 at approximately 1 p.m., Holbrook Police received multiple 911 calls reporting that a child had been struck by a Comcast bucket truck.

Savannah Curran was struck just outside of her home on Fargo Road and died a short time later from her injuries.

JOHNSON stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police.

JOHNSON will have a clerk magistrate’s hearing at Quincy District Court at a later date.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
