Andover Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award 

ANDOVER — Town Manager Andrew P. Flanagan is pleased to announce that Andover received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal 2018 budget.

Presented by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by the Town of Andover.

“We’re honored to be recognized by the GFOA for our sound budgeting practices,” Flanagan said. “This award illustrates Andover’s fiscal responsibility and commitment to providing high quality service to its residents.”

To receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the Town of Andover had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well the Town’s budget serves as:

• A policy document
• A financial plan
• An operations guide
• A communications device

Budget documents had to be rated proficient in all four categories and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a professional association servicing the needs of more than 19,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials. The GFOA provides top quality publications, training programs, services and products designed to enhance the skills and performance of those responsible for government finance and policy and management.
