Rochester Fire Department Battles Fatal Fire

ROCHESTER — Interim Fire Chief Mark Dupuis reports that the Rochester Fire Department responded to a fire late Wednesday evening that resulted in the death of a resident.

Rochester firefighters responded at 11:38 p.m. for a reported mobile home fire at 154 Whitehall Road. Upon arrival, heavy fire was visible, and a one-alarm response was requested, sending firefighters from Dover, Milton, and Durham to the scene.

During firefighting efforts, the body of a resident was discovered inside the home. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

Frisbie Memorial Hospital EMS and the Rochester Police Department also responded to the scene. The incident is under investigation by the Rochester Fire and Police departments and the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s office. The origin and cause have not been determined at this time.

The Farmington and Barrington fire departments covered Rochester during the incident.

Whitehall Road was shut down during the incident and remains closed until fire apparatus can clear the scene, which will be sometime early Thursday morning.

This is a breaking news update. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
