Rochester Fire Department Battles Fire in Log Cabin Style Home

ROCHESTER, N.H. — Chief Norman Sanborn reports that the Rochester Fire Department battled a 2-alarm blaze on Friday in a log cabin style home that caused significant damage.

Firefighters responded to 38 Betts Road at 5:40 p.m. Friday for a reported structure fire. First arriving had heavy fire showing upon arrival and a second alarm was immediately struck, bringing in additional units and mutual aid from surrounding communities, including a task force of five tanker trucks for extra water.

The home is located outside the city’s water district, and there were no fire hydrants in the area.

Three family members were home at the time, and they all made it out of the home safely. No one was injured in the fire, but two family cats were not accounted for as of Saturday afternoon.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation by the Rochester Fire Department.
