Bedford, N.H. Police Arrest Nursing Home Aide for Stealing Jewelry from Patients

Megan Lakos

BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John J. Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department arrested a woman who allegedly stole multiple pieces of jewelry, including wedding rings, from residents of a local nursing home.

MEGAN LAKOS, AGE 24, OF LONDONDERRY was arrested and charged with three counts of Theft by Unauthorized Taking (two felony, one misdemeanor).

On Thursday, Jan. 12, around 7 p.m., LAKOS turned herself into the Bedford Police Department. LAKOS had several warrants out for her arrest in relation to these charges.

In October, Bedford Police responded three times to the Ridgewood Center Nursing Home, 25 Ridgewood Road, for reports of various jewelry items missing from patients’ rooms.

An investigation by Bedford Police Detectives revealed that LAKOS was stealing jewelry from residents’ rooms and taking the pieces to a local pawn shop to sell. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

Following her arrest, LAKOS was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail pending her appearance in Merrimack District Court on Feb. 9.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
