Statement of East Bridgewater Police and Public Schools

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Scott Allen and East Bridgewater Public School District Superintendent Elizabeth Legault wish to reassure the community after reports that a male high school student may seek to harm other students on Wednesday.

There is no threat, and there is no danger to the school community.

Students reported to staff members that a eighth grade boy at the East Bridgewater Jr./Sr. High School would attack other students on Wednesday, Jan. 4. The East Bridgewater Police Department and school district immediately investigated.

The allegations proved false. The investigation determined that one or more students allegedly made false reports to staff in an attempt to get another student into trouble.

Students found making false reports will face the appropriate level of discipline consistent with school district policy.
