LITTLETON and LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police Chief Matthew King is pleased to announce that Deputy Chief Jeffrey Patterson graduated from the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officers Course (AOC) at the University of Louisville earlier this month.

The 136th AOC graduation was held Thursday, Nov. 3 on the campus of the University of Louisville. Deputy Chief Patterson was one of 45 officers representing 38 agencies in 16 states completing this advanced program.

The AOC is a nationally accredited, 12-week, residential college-level educational program designed for individuals in or about to be promoted to management positions in law enforcement. The course provides instruction in law enforcement issues, diagnostic problem solving and administrative law and enhances skills in the art of cooperation, negotiation, compromise and consensus.

“I feel very fortunate to have been able to attend this course, which was an important step in advancing my skills and experience in a management role with the Littleton Police Department,” Deputy Chief Patterson said. “I am grateful to Chief King for sending me to this program and making this investment in my career with our department.”

This course is designed to teach participants the knowledge and skills required to manage, evaluate and direct the resources of a law enforcement agency and effectively deal with administrative issues confronting law enforcement managers. Additionally, students learned about current law enforcement operational philosophy and practice, and the contemporary legal responsibilities of law enforcement administrators.

“I am proud of Deputy Patterson for dedicating nearly three months to completing this course and enhancing his leadership skills as a result,” Chief King said. “Sending Deputy Patterson to this training demonstrates the commitment of the Town of Littleton to continuously training its employees and departments.”
