RANDOLPH — Chief William Pace praises the work of Officer Geoffrey Lucas and K-9 Aron for their assistance with apprehending a dangerous suspect in yesterday’s Rehoboth standoff.

On Thursday, Sept. 15, Officer Lucas responded to a call for mutual aid in the town of Rehoboth, where the SEMLEC swat team was actively pursuing a barricaded, possibly armed subject who was threatening to blow up a gas station.

Upon arrival, Officer Lucas and K-9 Aron observed a man locked in his car in the parking lot of Cumberland Farms, 232 Winthrop St. The suspect rammed his car into the SWAT team’s vehicle and then fled from his car.

Officer Lucas pursued the suspect and safely deployed the K-9 after the suspect ignored commands to stop. K-9 Aron made contact with the suspect’s right calf, bringing him to the ground. The suspect was handcuffed and placed into custody.

“Officer Lucas and K-9 Aron performed admirably when entering a tense, difficult, and dangerous situation yesterday,” Chief Pace said. “Both executed orders quickly, calmly, and accurately, resulting in the take down of a dangerous person. I am extremely proud of their work and commend Officer Lucas for his direct command of K-9 Aron.”
