Statement of Stoneham Board of Selectmen

STONEHAM — Members of the Board of Selectmen issue the following statement in response to the death of Stoneham Firefighter David Atherton:

“Today, we mourn the loss of 24-year-old Firefighter David Atherton. This is a great tragedy for the Fire Department and for our community as a whole. Firefighter Atherton was a dedicated serviceman in the National Guard, who, during his career, received recognition for his valiant actions. Our prayers and thoughts are with Firefighter Atherton’s family and each member of the Stoneham Fire Department.”
