Maynard Police to Host Youth Police Academy This Summer

MAYNARD — Chief Mark Dubois is pleased to announce that the Maynard Police Department will host its first ever Summer Youth Police Academy for students entering sixth to eight grades.

The academy will take place July 18-22 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, with no cost to attend. Topics covered will include CPR/First Aid, Patrol Procedure, Criminal and Constitutional Law, Drug Recognition and Criminal Investigations.

Program participants, who will be called cadets, will be provided with a uniform including a hat, a shirt, and a water bottle. Cadets will be responsible for wearing black athletic shorts, white socks, and shoes suitable for running and physical activity outdoors.

“I look forward to hosting this academy for our community this summer,” Chief Dubois said. “We encourage all middle school students interested in law enforcement to attend.”

The registration form for the Maynard Youth Academy can be found here. For more information, please contact Detective Chris Sweeney at csweeney@maynardpolice.com or by phone 978-897-1028.

This academy is open to all communities, but Maynard residents will get priority during registration.
