Natick Fire Department Rescues Woman Stuck in Marsh

NATICK — Chief Richard White reports that the Natick Fire Department today rescued a woman and her dog who were stuck in a marsh.

At approximately 3:14 p.m., firefighters responded to the Hunnewell Town Forest, located on Oak Street, for a report of a woman and her dog who were stuck in the mud. Another pedestrian who was walking by saw the woman was stuck and called 911.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 3:19 p.m. and were able to locate the woman, who was waist deep in water, approximately 50 feet out into the marsh.

Wearing a survival suit, Firefighter Rob Stevenson entered the water and assisted the woman and her dog to dry land. Neither the woman or her dog were injured. Firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 3:48 p.m..

“Thanks to the quick response and efficient work by firefighters today, this woman was not stuck in the marsh for an extended period of time and was able to go home without injury to herself or her dog,” Chief White said. “I would like to remind residents to always be cautious around marshy areas which can be extremely dangerous.”
