Littleton Police Locate Abandoned Puppy on Nashoba Road

LITTLETON – Chief Matthew J. King reports that the Littleton Police Department responded to an abandoned 8-week-old pit bull that was found on the side of the road earlier this week.

The puppy was found wandering on Nashoba Road on Tuesday, April 12 by a motorist and his daughter, who is a Littleton Police explorer. At approximately 7:20 a.m., the two residents flagged down Sgt. David Leslie, who was patrolling the area at the time, and alerted him to the abandoned dog.

Sgt. Leslie brought the puppy to Littleton’s Animal Control Officer, Phyllis Tower, who will be making arrangements with a shelter that will place the puppy up for adoption.

After further investigation, police were able to locate the dog’s owner, who admitted to abandoning the dog on the side of the road. A hearing for a criminal complaint has been submitted against the owner.

“We commend Sgt. Leslie and the two residents that found the puppy for taking the proper precautions when dealing with a matter such as this,” Chief King said. “The puppy was found in good health and has been placed in safe care until we can find it a forever home.”
