Wakefield Declares Snow Emergency

WAKEFIELD — Police Chief Rick Smith reports that the Town of Wakefield has declared a Snow Emergency.

As we prepare for a significant snow storm that will impact Massachusetts the Wakefield Police Department wants to provide you with the following important information:

  • The Snow Emergency will be in effect from Monday, January 26 at 10 p.m. until Wednesday, January 28 at 10 a.m.
  • During this time vehicles should NOT be parked along roadways or on sidewalks.
  • Vehicles in violation and/or impeding snow removal will be ticketed and towed.

Emergency situations can be called in to 911 for dispatch of DPW, Fire or Police Electrical Outages should be reported by calling 781-246-6363, please leave a message and your call will be dispatched.

Refuse and Recycling collection is cancelled for Tuesday and will follow a holiday schedule.

Important information:

The Department requests that you stay off the roads during and immediately after the storm.

It is important that you clear fire hydrants and catch basins around your property.

If you have a power outage, please do not run a gas grill or generator inside the house.

Finally, make sure to power up your cell phones.
