Stoneham Police Arrest Man, 21, for Armed Robbery
Strong Cooperation from Public, Business Community Cited in Swift Capture of Overnight Robbery Suspect
STONEHAM — Police Chief James McIntyre is today praising the cooperation between the Stoneham Police Department and the Stoneham business community after a robbery suspect was quickly captured after a review of good surveillance footage and tips from business owners.
BRENDEN M. SWEET-RAINEY, AGE 21, OF STONEHAM was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly robbed the Stop N Save convenience store on Franklin Street. He has been charged with Armed Robbery While Masked and Assault with Intent to Commit Armed Robbery.
Stoneham Police responded to the store on Monday evening around 8 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery. SWEET-RAINEY allegedly went into the store with a black handgun, a fake beard, and a shirt partially covering his face. The clerk, however, recognized his voice as a frequent customer known to her as “Brenden.” The owner of the store, after reviewing surveillance footage with police, also positively identified SWEET-RAINEY as the suspect, saying that he is a frequent customer.
SWEET-RAINEY was arrested at his home on Tuesday morning without incident. He will be arraigned in Woburn District Court.
The charges in this case are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
