Arlington Department of Veterans’ Services to Dedicate New “Veterans Resource Center”

WHAT:

The Town of Arlington Department of Veterans’ Services will be conducting a dedication ceremony for the department’s new Veterans Resource Center. Press and the public are cordially invited to attend this special event.

The new Resource Center will be dedicated in honor of William L. Reardon Jr. Mr. Reardon was a resident of Arlington and joined the Army at the start of World War II. Private William Reardon served with the 359th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division. He was killed in combat operations following the invasion of Normandy and he is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

This new Resource Center will provide veterans with computer access and resources enabling them to access the Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System to register and manage their healthcare needs. Additionally, they will be able to track the claim status for service connected disability claims. Veterans will also be able to use resources and tools to enhance their employment possibilities and much more.

Private Reardon’s surviving brother, Frederick, provided his burial flag and other items from his military service. These items will be part of a permanent display commemorating his brother’s service. Mr. Frederick Reardon will be present for the dedication ceremony.
