Weare Police Officer to Speak Publicly for First Time Since Being Shot in the Line of Duty

WEARE — Chief Christopher Moore announces that Weare Police Officer William “Paul” Lewis will be speaking publicly on Monday for the first time since he was shot while responding to an emergency call earlier this month.

WHEN:

TOMORROW — Monday, Aug. 19 at 2 p.m.

WHERE:

Weare Police Department, 144 North Stark Highway, Weare, N.H.

WHO:

WHAT:

On Aug. 1, Officer Lewis was shot in the arm on while responding to a domestic violence call on Buckley Road.

At approximately 2 a.m. that morning, Officer Lewis was one of the first responding officers to arrive on scene. The officers helped a woman escape safely from the home before a suspect opened fire on police.

Officer Lewis was shot and was assisted by his fellow officers and rushed from the scene to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Since the incident, Officer Lewis has been in good spirits and recovering from his wounds.

Officer Lewis will his experiences on Monday and will talk about his injuries, his recovery and his desire to return to his job he loves.
