Gloucester Police and Fire Respond after Umbrella Injures 13-Year-Old Boy at Good Harbor Beach

GLOUCESTER –Fire Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department responded to Good Harbor Beach today after a 13-year-old boy was injured by an umbrella.

At approximately 1:40 p.m., firefighters responded to Good Harbor Beach for a report of a person injured by an umbrella. Upon arrival, first responders learned that a 13-year-old Florida boy had sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries after he was struck by an umbrella that had gone airborne.

Gloucester EMTs carried the boy off of the beach, and he was transported by ambulance to Beverly Hospital.
