Town of Acton to Host Cyber Threat Seminar

ACTON — Town Manager John Mangiaratti invites residents to take part in a seminar on cyber fraud later this week.

Acton’s Wellness Initiative Network Committee will host Protecting Yourself Against Cyber Threats on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 1-2 p.m. at the Council on Aging, 30 Sudbury Road. The event will feature a presentation by Enterprise Bank Operational Risk Director Meaghan Lally-McGurl.

Lally-McGurl will address the different kinds of scenarios, schemes, tools and scams techniques that criminals use to take advantage of unsuspecting victims and give attendees tips to identify potential online scams.

“This seminar will give residents expert insight on the ways that scammers try to take advantage of people online,” Town Manager Mangiaratti said. “I encourage everyone to attend this informative program and protect themselves from being victimized.”

The event is free to attend and open to the public, though anyone interested in attending should email HR@actonma.gov or call 978-929-6613 to register.
