Littleton Police and Fire Departments Respond after Roofer Injured by Nail Gun

LITTLETON — Police Chief Matthew Pinard and Fire Chief Scott Wodzinski report that a roofer was injured Friday morning when he accidentally discharged a nail into his knee with a pneumatic nail gun.

At approximately 10:40 a.m. today, Littleton Police and Fire personnel responded to a single-family home on Trot Road for a report of an injured man.

Upon arrival, officers located a 60-year-old Woburn man who was injured on the roof of the home. The man was conscious and alert.

Firefighters used multiple ladders and rope to create a rigging system and were able to successfully lower the victim down from the 15-foot roof. The man was transported by ambulance to Lahey Hospital. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

Because the incident involved a workplace injury, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified. Police have determined that the incident was accidental.
